Selected aspects of the spatial composition in the estate and park complex in Niegowić
Summary.

The estate and park complex in Niegowić is an example of a small noble land estate which represents the beauty of a park composition in a free naturalistic style, which is harmoniously combined with a utility farm. The landscape composition of the park is calligraphic, with the arrangement in a variety of the picturesque style. It may have included elements in a variety of the romantic style. The aim of the study was an analysis of the spatial composition and scenic combinations of the estate, an identification of nodes in the composition of the park complex, which are connected with each other and with the distant landscape, and an analysis of the state of preservation of the present composition in view of its historical arrangement. The following field methods were applied in the study on the estate and park complex in Niegowić: a dendrological and dendrochronological inventory and an analysis of the species composition, combined with the following desk analyses: a historical analysis and an analysis of archival materials, historical reviews and an analysis of the spatial composition and scenic connections. The research work led to the following observations: the complex under investigation retained fragmentary elements of a regular garden in its eastern part, whereas the remaining space was developed in the landscape style. The front of the manor, the entrance gate and the bridge were found to be important nodes in the manor-and-park composition. Those places were strongly scenically interconnected with each other and with the distant landscape. During field works and desk analyses numerous self-seedings and post-war transformations of the farm arrangement were found to strongly obliterate the spatial composition, whereas the comparison of dendrochronological analyses revealed a rapid and irreversible degree of degradation and obliteration of the park complex composition.
