Nowadays, various parameters are automatically measured in dairy barns. It allows the precision dairy farming. The progress requires a new type of sensors, i.e. biosensors. Their complexity is very diversified, from patches to complex thermal or spectrometric devices. The aim of this study was to obtain and examine currently available data on the characteristics of technologies for automatic cows’ monitoring. It let to find the major manufacturers of such devices and to recognize the possibilities of using new monitoring technologies. The Internet, communication and advertising materials from manufacturers and data obtained at EuroTier 2014 in Han-nover were the main sources of information on technologies for automatic cows’ monitoring. The analyses show that the USA is the major global provider of technologies for automatic cows’ monitoring. The biosensors are usually externally installed on the cows’ necks (26%). The animals’ activities constitute 37% of all automatically monitored characteristics. More than half of the gathered information is used in the estrus detection and 20% of the monitoring systems are used as mastitis warning.
