A three-year long study (2009-2011) was conducted on seven single-cross and seven three-way-cross corn varieties. Entire chopped plant silage was ensiled in microsiloses of 1.7 l capacity. The content of dry matter, crude, crude protein, crude fat, crude fibre and starch were determined in the forage produced from silage. The levels of detergent fibre NDF and ADF, as well as ADL-lignin and organic matter digestibility of silage via in vitro method were also determined. Single-cross hybrids showed lower concentrations of crude protein and crude fat and more NFC than three-way-cross (P ≤ 0.01). Other nutrients showed no statistically significant differences. Hybrid type did not affect the digestibility of organic matter. The year of the research had a high statistically significant effect on the nutrient content of dry matter and organic matter digestibility of whole corn plant silage. Influence was stated of the hybrid type and year of the research on crude protein concentration (P ≤ 0.05), acid detergent lignin and crude lignin concentration (P ≤ 0.01) in the studied hybrids of corn.
