Effect of production technology intensity on yield, canopy structure and protein quality of population and hybrid wheat
Summary.

In 2011–2014 a strict field experiment was carried out which aimed at the determination of response of population and hybrid winter wheat cultivars to growing intensity of production technology. It was found that increasing technology intensity resulted in a significant increase in wheat grain yield, which resulted from a higher number of ears and a higher number of grains per ear. The highest yields were obtained from the hybrid cultivar ‘Hybred’, whereas the population cultivar ‘Batuta’ gave significantly the lowest yields. The high input technology resulted in an increase in LAI and SPAD, and among the cultivars, only the hybrid ‘Hymack’ was characterized with worse parameters of canopy structure. Technology intensity did not determine the content of albumins and globulins, causing an increase in protein content and gliadins and glutelins fractions in grain. The total protein of wheat cultivars grain was characterized with the lowest share of albumins and globulins fractions, at the highest level of storage proteins with predominance of gliadins in relation to glutelins.

Key words: : population wheat, hybrid wheat, yield, LAI, SPAD, MTA, protein fractions
