The paper presents the results of a study concerning Arenic albeluvisols. This type of soils is roughly classified as Arenic albeluvisols or Arenic glossudalfs in other soil classification systems (Keys... 2006, World reference... 2006). In Poland this type of Albeluvisols has been separated in the last edition of “Systematyka gleb Polski” (Systematyka... 2011) but the morphology of these soils is still little known. The research was carried out in agricultural areas of the central Wielkopolska region. The analysed soils had the following diagnostic horizons: ochric, luvic, glossic and argic. The pedons of the studied soils were decalcified to the average depth of approximately 118 cm and appeared sandy to the average depth of 60 cm. Below Ap and Et horizons there were sandy loam and loam materials building glossic and argic horizons (B/E, Bt). Different soil texture and deep sandiness cause strong diversification in properties of the studied soils. Glossic horizons lying under sandy layers showed strong average bulk density: 1.68-1.80 g/cm3. Firm consistency and solid, thick angular and subangular blocky structure create conditions for seasonal stagnation of precipitation water, as well as percolating difficulties in its soil horizon. During rainless periods sandy horizons become extremely dry. The sequence of horizons and specific properties of the discussed soils often cause cultivation difficulties and lower yielding of the crop.
