Before damming the Odra river was a drainage river. It accepted the part of the groundwater runoff from the topographic catchment of the watercourse Jeziorka, situated entirely in the river valley. After the damming in Brzeg Dolny, the river became an infiltrating river and its valley area is additionally supplied by waters filtering from the reservoir. The paper contains a description of the formation of groundwaters in the areas adjoining to the damming of the Odra river in Brzeg Dolny. The depth of the groundwater level in the period 1928-2009 was analysed. Currently, the change trends in the depth of the groundwater level has not been observed in the Odra valley adjacent to the water lifting. The existing drainage system provides good soil moisture conditions for agricultural production in the Odra valley above the damming in Brzeg Dolny.
