Occurrence of callery pear (Pyrus calleryana Decne.) in the green areas of Poznań
Summary.
The paper presents the results of inventory of Callery pear (Pyrus calleryana) trees occurring in green areas of Poznań city, which was carried out in 2011-2012. Totally, 982 trees growing in 22 localities, most often along streets, were inventoried. The described localities differ significantly in respect to habitat and light conditions. The trees represent two cultivars of Callery pear – ‘Chanticleer’ and ‘Capital’, and they were planted in 2006-2012. The circumference of tree trunks amounted from 12.5 to 36 cm (mean 19.0 cm), and the tree height amounted from 2.5 to 13.1 m (mean 5.9 m).
