Seasonal cows’ milk productivity in the outdoor rest places barns
Summary.
The authors assumed that, keeping high productive dairies outside a cowshed might reduce the seasonal character of milk production in Poland, which decrease is being observed in the summer. The attempt was made to determine the hierarchy of negative influences on dairies’ productivity, such as: average daily air temperature and maximum daily temperature and average daily relative humidity. The standard regression methods and artificial neural network were applied in the research. It appeared that allowing the dairies spend all-year-round outside the cowshed, might protect them against the heat stress in the summer. The strongest stimulus which reduces milk production is the level of maximum air temperature.
Key words: dairy productivity, heat stress
