The research conducted in the period 2005-2007 was carried out at the Experimental Station Gorzyń belonging to the Poznań University of Life Sciences. The research components were two harvest dates of green forage yellow lupine cultivar ‘Parys’ (I – stage of flat pod and II – green ripeness seeds), ensilaging additives (biological and chemical) and control without additives. The microbiological composition of the silages in focus was differentiated in successive years of the research. Lupine silage of stage I (flat pod) contained significantly more lactic acid bacteria and less yeast and Clostridium. Biological additive caused a meaningful rise in the content of lactic acid bacteria. Both additives caused a noticeable decrease of the content of negative bacteria from the Enterobacteriaceae family, Clostridium, yeast and mould fungi; it should be stressed here that the chemical additive was more effective than the biological one. No vital influence of the green forage harvest date on chemical composition of silages was found during the studies. However, the additives differentiated the content of lactic acid, ammonia, reducing sugars and silage pH.
