The main goal of the studies carried out in 2008 and 2009 was the evaluation of efficacy and selectivity of the selected herbicides applied in the sorghum var. ‘Sucrosorgo 506’. Field experiments were carried out in the Field Experimental Station in Winna Góra belonging to the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute in Poznań. Following active ingredients of herbicides were tested: s-metolachlor (Dual Gold 960 EC) + tifensulfuron-methyl (Refine 75 WG), s-metolachlor (Dual Gold 960 EC) + tribenuron-methyl (Granstar 75 WG), tribenuron methyl (Granstar 75 WG) + fluroxypyr (Starane 250 EC), clopyralid (Lontrel 300 SL) + MCPA (Chwastox Extra 300 SL), mesotrione (Callisto 100 SC), fluroxypyr (Starane 250 EC) + dicamba (Banvel 480 SL). The effectiveness of herbicides, sorghum plant fresh weight and sorghum plant density per unit area were described. All tested herbicides were characterised by a high herbicidal effectiveness. The highest increase of fresh weight of sorghum plants was noticed after application of Dual Gold 960 EC + Refine 75 WG and Dual Gold 960 EC + Granstar 75 WG, while increasing plant densities – after application of Granstar 75 WG + Starane 250 EC and Dual Gold 960 EC + Refine 75 WG.
