The paper presents results of the researches carried out in 2000/2001, 2002/2003 hydrological years, different comparing precipitation sums, in catchment of pond No 1, located at Siemianice Experimental Forest Farm Poznań University of Life Sciences. In winter half-years of studied periods, water storage in analysed habitats has increased. Whereas in summer half-years, due to the tree stands transpiration, retention has decreased. The biggest changes in water storage levels were noted in moist mixed broadleaved forest. The retention increments in layer 0-100 cm in winter half-years were about 65 mm-126 mm, and looses of water in summer half-years – about 17 mm-49 mm. The increment of water storage in 2000/2001 hydrological year, which was a wet year in terms of rainfall total, was higher by about 50 mm than in 2002/2003 hydrological year, which was medium-dry.
