The aim of the article was to treat industrial wastewater coming from edible fats and oils company with the application of coagulation process. Five different coagulants containing various amounts of reactive ferric (PIX 109, PIX 111, Brenntafloc F3 and ferric chloride) were tested in laboratory conditions. The experiment was conducted for various doses of reagents at constant temperature and technological parameters of the coagulation and flocculation. The assessment of various reagents and their doses was based on the concentration and degree of organic matter (COD) removal as well as sedimentation properties of the sludge, generated as a by-product of the coagulation process. In particular, degree of phosphates removal was taken into consideration when assessing the effectiveness of the process.
