Variability of water retention in soils of agricultural microcatchment in the Gniezno Lakeland Area
Summary.

 The study on variability of soil water retention was conducted at the Mokronosy Experimental Station in the years 1993-2003 as a part of long-term investigations of hydrology of agricultural microcatchments on reliefed areas. Both groundwater levels and soil moisture content showed significant variability dependent on meteorological conditions and situation of soil profile in the relief. Water stored during winter half-years was used during summer half-years. Moisture content in the upper half-meter soil layer of the profile situated in the middle parts of the slope showed similarity to moisture content in the profile in the slope culmination. On the other hand, moisture content in one-meter layer of the mentioned above profile was similar to water content in the profile located at footslope.
