Material and waste management in brewing industry
Summary.
Presented in the paper is an analysis of material and waste management in 7 Polish breweries performed on the basis of questionnaire surveys. On the basis of the results obtained,
it was determined that consumption of water and amount of wastewater formed is low. Total material index amounts to approximately 23 kg/hl of beer produced, organic wastes are utilized up to 100% for agricultural purposes and the remainder segregated and delivered for utilization according to the law or to waste dump. On the basis of results obtained, it was determined that material and waste management conducted is proper and the low material-consumption and waste indexes signify the application of modern technological solutions in the breweries surveyed.
