Chlormequat and metconazole in the growing of garden geranium (Pelargonium hortorum L.H. Bailey) ‘Aida’
Part III. Metallic microelements and sodium status of plants
Summary.

The aim of the conducted studies was estimation of the plant’s growth regulators on the metallic microelements and sodium content in geranium leaves grown in sphagnum-peat substrate. Chlormequat was used and it contained in Cycocel 750 SL preparation in concentration 1125 mg·dm-3 and metconazole contained in Caramba 60 SL preparation in concentrations: 600 and 900 mg·dm-3. A significant influence was found of the mentioned retardants on the average content of copper in plants leaves (range from 4.60 to 8.80 mg·kg-1 of d.m.). Plants’ reaction in case of iron depended on the tested retardants (range from 275.5 to 407.4 mg). There was no influence in case of content of: sodium (range from 0.53 to 0.82%), zinc (range from 16.5 to 36.8 mg) – except Caramba 0.15% – and manganese (range from 148.5 to 217.8 mg) in leaves. Plants spraying caused an increase copper content both in case of upper and bottom leaves. It in turn of iron case increased the nutrient content in upper leaves, reducing it simultaneously in bottom leaves. Both in sodium and manganese the case confirmed the opposite tendencies.
