The trial has been established in 2006-2007 at the Experimental Station Swadzim of Poznań University of Life Sciences, to evaluate 12 oats varieties from DANKO Plant Breeding Company. Average grain yields have been found in range from 26.1 dt/ha [‘CHD 3416/02’ (5), naked] to 51.7 dt/ha [‘CHD 1996/01’ (9), husked, yellow]. The varieties of naked oats ‘CHD 3249/02’ (6) and ‘CHD 3416/02’ (7) had significantly lower yields compared with husked forms, and amounted up to 66.8% and 57.0% of average yields of tested varieties and 64.0% and 54.6% of yield of standard variety ‘Bohun’ (11). Brown-grain variety ‘CHD 3047/03’ (4), and two yellow-grain varieties ‘CHD 1996/01’ (9) and ‘CHD 1642/02’ (10) have been found as very valuable genotypes, which have high grain yield and low husk content. These varieties are suitable for feed utilization. Besides, standard variety ‘Bohun’ (11), also two yellow-grain varieties ‘CHD 1996/01’ (9) and ‘CHD 1642/02’ (10) have been found as high yielding and higher protein content varieties, what makes them suitable for consumption, as well as feed utilization. Varieties with high yields and higher fat content were brown-grain ‘CHD 3047/03’ (4), yellow-grain ‘CHD 1642/02’ (10) and ‘Bohun’ (11).
