Milking frequency of cows with DeLaval VMS robot
Summary.
A herd of 59 first calvings were milked with a single DeLaval VMS unit – one of the first ones introduced in Poland. The research was conducted in Szołdry (Wielkopolska) and aimed to analyse daily milking frequency and its impact on single milking yield, total daily yield, and the occurrence rate of undermilking. The study found the average milking frequency at 2.5 with over 90% of all milkings to be either of twice-a-day (2×) or three-times-a-day (3×) type. Incomplete milkings occurred rarely in fewer than 2% cases. Total daily yield was significantly higher for 3× than 2× milkings.
Key words: milking frequency, total daily yield, milking robot, milk production
