The analysis of a river training works and aggregate extraction influence on morphological changes in the Vistula River bed in Warsaw are presented in the paper. The highest morphological changes, which consisted of deep erosion of the main river channel with simultaneous sedimentation of bedload material in spaces between groins, took place during last 40 years. The results of the investigation carried out in 2008 show that the process of riverbed deep erosion occurred with a certain delay. However, the present state of riverbed periodically causes encumbrances or totally prevents from navigation, ports and piers using, sand beach disappearance and overgrowing of flood channel, which generated depreciation of river economic importance, nature, tourist and recreation values of the river. The multialternative designs are presented in purpose of the Vistula River part restoration to the state in first half of 20th century. The main changes will be referred to redevelopment of groin’s system and construction of low bottom weirs or rubber dam for river bottom stabilisation and pounding the low and mean waters.
