Urban recreation in public spaces of European cities
Summary.
At present in the face of progressive process of urban sprawl, visible especially in big European agglomerations, the greater role has a possibility of resting within the urbanized areas. Public spaces of different types (parks, green squares, alleys and footpaths, local streets with large quantity of greenery), are special and specific resting places. The changes of lifestyles as well as ways of spending free time, cause searching of new principles of shaping the present public spaces. The paper presents the most interesting European solutions, both in the sphere of revitalization of historical public spaces, as well as the examples of new public spaces shaped in the process of transformation of cities in large scale.
