There are certain places in the city which are commonly visited by its inhabitants irrespective of the season of the year. These locations are frequented both by those living nearby and those living in remote parts of the city – for them the distance to be covered to reach their destination is not a problem. The place they are going to obviously has something to offer – something unique, not to be experienced elsewhere. For the inhabitants of Poznań one of such places for over 100 years now has been the green residential district of Sołacz, with the adorable Sołacki Park, probably the most attractive park in the city. This area may boast of glorious traditions, connected e.g. with numerous events organized there. All who used to visit Sołacz in the past found something of interest for themselves. This paper is an attempt to compare the present attractions of Sołacz with those offered in the past. The study is to determine which of the interesting elements have been preserved to the present and for those which have vanished – what are the potential possibilities to restore them. It will also find out what new attractions have been introduced and whether they satisfy the needs of visitors.
