Analysis of the Wkra river-bed changes in aspect of different state of modification
Summary.
The research was conducted on seven sites located in natural and transformed reaches of the Wkra River. The research included the following factors: physical properties of sediments, shaping of velocity distribution along the river course and in cross-sections, variability of bottom topography, relationships between the depth of bottom washing and parameters of river-bed shape, analysis of change in longitudinal profile. An attempt was made to establish what parameters are crucial for diversification of abiotic conditions. The depth of bottom washing, which is an important element of abiotic diversity and which results from transversal circulation, is mostly influenced by radius of curvature and decline of water-table.
