Is the Holy City for sale? The sacral landscape in the face of progress of touristic infrastructure
Summary.

Pilgrimage movement is one of the most popular ways of organizing free time. The areas based on pilgrimage tourism are places of prayer and contemplation. At the same time they tend to be traffic, mercenary and accommodation centres. The commerce and its contemporary infrastructure destroys the sacral landscape; however, it is necessary for serving the pilgrims. The incomes gained by pilgrimage tourism bring local prosperity and help saving the monuments. The concept of Holy City is one of the forms of compromise. It is based on composing of distance zones and of filling the space. It marks the borders of the preserved areas, it shows the possible degree of changing landscape and it also enables placing the services in a proper way, avoiding conflicts. It also allows to preserve spiritual and aesthetical values of the sacral landscape.
