City landscape in the process of tourism land development. The case of waterside town of Wolin
Summary.
Of the many resorts situated at the coastland of the Lagoon of the Oder river (Zalew Szczeciński), Wolin stands out with its size, history and creativity in dealing with current development challenges. One of the most important factors regarding Wolin’s development is tourism. Searching for new ways of development, Wolin’s efforts concentrate on how to make the city landscape more attractive for tourists and how to modernize the area to meet the needs of modern tourism. On the one hand, natural environment is strictly protected due to the current law. On the other hand, social and cultural needs cannot be ignored. A solution of this conflict has to be found.
