Tourist development of mansion/grange complexes as the odds in favour of activation of Lower Silesian’s villages
Summary. Since they came into existence, manor or mansion/grange complexes have left
a distinctive impression on their neighbourhood and rural society, shaped spatial composition of villages and become an inherent part of cultural landscape of specific locations. Unfortunately,
a dynamic deterioration process for the most of landed estates have commenced after 1945. In recent years, as the rest in the bosom of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, and also from big-city contaminants, becomes more and more popular, especially among town inhabitants, the chances for estates to regain their past magnificence are much realistic than ever before. There are various adaptation options possible: from catering/sports services, via rest/didactic establishments for children and youngsters, till conference/hotel/sports facilities. Let us hope that sustained development of tourism improves the situation of manors not only in the Lower Silesia region but also across all our country.
Key words: Lower Silesia, mansion/grange complexes, tourism, village
