The Łyna River and riverside areas as a place for recreation, tourism and sports
Summary. The Łyna River flows across the central part of the province of Warmia and Mazury. With their natural, cultural and landscape assets, the riverside areas along the Łyna create good conditions for the development of various forms of tourism. In the town of Olsztyn, the existing hydrographical system should be used for the development of urban green areas, which would support the growth of recreation, tourism and sports. The green areas around the lakes in Olsztyn should be connected with the existing and proposed recreational areas along the Łyna. The Łyna River is a waterway which has a large but mostly unused potential for development. The activities undertaken in the future should aim at creating an integrated tourist product named the Łyna River trail.
Key words: river, riverside areas, nature and cultural values, recreation
